Hearst Media Production Group is seeking a freelance Video Audience Development Manager to own the Lucky Dog YouTube programming strategy, drive engagement and revenue growth, and automate executive-ready reporting. The role collaborates with producers, design, talent, and sales to evangelize best practices across platforms.

Ideal candidates will have expert YouTube Studio skills, strong analytics, and experience turning data-backed trends into actionable production improvements.

Qualifications

• Minimum 6 years in digital video strategy, YouTube programming, audience development, or analytics.
• Demonstrated success programming or operating a major YouTube channel, including packaging strategy and performance optimization.
• Advanced fluency in YouTube Studio analytics, content measurement, and experimentation frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Own programming strategy for Lucky Dog YouTube channel, including content direction, scheduling, and presentation.
• Define new KPIs, automate reports, and implement platform standards to optimize engagement and revenue.
• Automate recurring reporting and deliver actionable insights for production, design, and editorial leadership.
• Partner with sponsorship sales to support YouTube monetization, Brand Partnerships tools, and campaign measurement best practices.
• Analyze viewership trends to inform content optimization (topics, formats, runtimes, cadence).
• Develop recommendations to reach and engage audiences across YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and Snap.
• Lead testing and learning across packaging, metadata, timing, and channel presentation; translate results into clear recommendations.
• Improve Lucky Dog library performance via playlist strategy, metadata refresh, packaging updates, and resurfacing opportunities.
• Socialize YouTube best practices across the organization across talent, production, sales, and design.
• Coordinate with Content Operations on captioning, upload readiness, and publishing workflows; ensure best practices.
