Job summary

The Champaign Park District is seeking a part-time Youth Volleyball Official to officiate youth and adult league games, ensuring safety, fairness, and enjoyment for all participants. You will make quick decisions, communicate calls clearly, and promote sportsmanship within a team-oriented recreation environment.

Responsibilities include officiating games, mentoring less experienced officials, attending trainings, and upholding park district safety policies.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least thirteen (13) years old; candidates under sixteen (16) must have a valid work permit.
  • Knowledge of rules for applicable sport(s)
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, participants, and spectators.

  • Make quick, impartial decisions and communicate calls clearly to players, coaches, and spectators.
  • Promote sportsmanship and maintain a safe, positive environment during games.
  • Manage and resolve conflicts effectively and professionally.
  • Mentor and support less experienced officials when needed.
  • Attend required meetings, training sessions, and workshops.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while on duty.
  • Follow all Park District safety policies and procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.
  • Adapt to officiating different recreation activities as assigned.
  • Work evenings and weekends based on program schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
