Job summary

The Champaign Park District is seeking a Youth Volleyball Official to support youth and adult league games. This part-time, non-exempt role involves officiating, making quick, fair calls, and promoting a safe, sportsmanlike environment.

You will attend required trainings and meetings, mentor newer officials, and work evenings and weekends according to the schedule. Must be at least 13 years old; those under 16 need a work permit.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of rules for applicable sport(s).
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, participants, and spectators.

Responsibilities

• Officiate youth and/or adult league games and tournaments.
• Make quick, impartial decisions and communicate calls clearly to players, coaches, and spectators.
• Promote sportsmanship and maintain a safe, positive environment during games.
• Manage and resolve conflicts effectively and professionally.
• Mentor and support less experienced officials when needed.
• Attend required meetings, training sessions, and workshops.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while on duty.
• Follow all Park District safety policies and procedures.
• Adapt to officiating different recreation activities as assigned.
• Work evenings and weekends based on program schedules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
