Job summary

Des Plaines Park District is seeking a Youth Soccer Official for the Des Plaines, IL area. This part-time seasonal role referees soccer games for the Youth Soccer League and supports a positive experience for participants and families.

The position requires a high school student or higher, at least 16 years old, with 2+ years of leadership experience and knowledge of soccer rules. CPR/First Aid cards and a valid driver’s license are required. Training and uniform will be provided.

Qualifications

• Education: High School student or higher.
• Age: Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Leadership: Minimum of 2 years of leadership experience.
• Knowledge: Knowledgeable of soccer rules.
• Certifications: CPR and First Aid Certification (classes available through Park District).
• Certifications: Must have a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Referee youth soccer games as assigned.
• Provide leadership to work effectively with the public, program participants, volunteer coaches, and families.
• Keep accurate records/reports and complete all written records as required.
• Maintain program area in a safe and orderly fashion.
• Inspect the soccer fields prior to each game and report any unsafe environments to the Activity Supervisor on duty.
• Maintain a positive public image and attitude with good public relations and customer service.
• Wear appropriate official’s uniform.
• Attend all pre-season official’s meetings and trainings.

Basic Function

Under the direction and supervision of the Athletic Supervisor, this part time seasonal position will be responsible for refereeing soccer games for the Des Plaines Park District Youth Soccer League.

Essential Duties

• Referee youth soccer games as assigned.


• Provide leadership to work effectively with the public, program participants, volunteer coaches, and families.


• Keep accurate records/reports and complete all written records as required.


• Maintain program area in a safe and orderly fashion.


• Inspect the soccer fields prior to each game and report any unsafe environments to the Activity Supervisor on duty.


• Maintain a positive public image and attitude with good public relations and customer service.


• Wear appropriate official’s uniform.


• Attend all pre-season official’s meetings and trainings.

Other Duties

• Direct participants in the event of an emergency, such as fire, severe weather.


• Communicate with Athletic Supervisor regarding any equipment needing repair or replacement.


• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures as outlined in the Employee Manual and Crisis Manual.


• Any other related duties as assigned.
