Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeast Virginia (BGCSEVA) seeks a part-time Transportation Driver to safely move children 6-18 between school, Club sites, and field trips. A valid state driver’s license, 2 years driving with youth, and a clear DMV record are required, along with fingerprinting and CPR/First Aid certification (acquired within 3 months).

The role involves supervising youth during transport, maintaining vehicles, and weekend shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid State Driver's License.
• Have 2 years driving experience (Personal or Professional).
• Submit to a fingerprint/background check.
• Experience working with youth in some capacity.
• Mandatory CPR and First Aid certifications (acquire within 3 months of employment).
• Must be able to lift items as heavy as 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• The Transportation Driver is responsible for providing safe and prompt transportation of children ages 6-18 years old from school to Boys & Girls Clubs and field trips as needed.
• Interact appropriately and positively with children ages 6-18 years old.
• Ensure all passengers follow rules regarding safety in vehicles and enforcement of rules.
• Maintain required licenses and certifications to transport passengers.
• Ensure safety and supervision of children while in Club vehicle, in transit and exiting Club vehicle.
• Know assigned routes, schedules and passenger for each day.
• Operate vehicle safely per Boy & Girls Club, State and Federal transportation policies.
• Keep vehicles safe, well-ventilated and equipment in good working condition.
• Perform daily maintenance of vehicles, including interior cleanliness, fluid and fuel levels, documented pre-trip operation, and vehicle inspections.
• Support Club administration in local drop off/delivery of donations and supplies as needed.
• Listen and communicate alerts about inclement weather.
• Assume other duties as assigned.
• May have to work occasional weekends.
