Job summary

The Tinley Park Public Library is seeking an energetic, part-time Youth Services assistant to collaborate with the Youth & Teen Services team. You will help patrons with reference and reader’s advisory, participate in collection development, and assist in planning programs for children of all ages, including teens.

Strong communication and tech skills are valued. Evening and weekend availability is required, with 14 hours weekly and rotating weekend shifts.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years’ professional experience working with children, preferably in a public library or educational environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for emails and online chats.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and technology devices.
• Ability to work evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with reference and reader’s advisory at the public service desk.
• Participate in collection development and programming for toddlers to teens.
• Plan and facilitate youth programs and create displays for teens when needed.
• Support Youth & Teen Services team and related department duties.
