Job summary

The Livingston Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to join the Youth Services team. Responsibilities include customer service, shelving youth materials, assisting with programs, and basic tech help in a welcoming community setting.

The position offers approximately 19 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends, with a focus on helping children, teens and families experience library resources and events. Background check required.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and some library or related work experience is a plus.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills; comfortable with public speaking.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with inquiries, check materials in/out, and provide basic readers’ advisory.
• Shelve youth materials and support programs and registrations.
• Assist with program development under supervision of Head of Youth Services.
• Provide basic computer assistance and help with copier as needed.
• Wear a welcoming, team-oriented approach and participate in social media initiatives when needed.
