Job summary

First Place for Youth seeks a Direct Care Floater to provide youth-focused coverage when staff are unavailable. You will support Youth Advocates, Education and Employment Specialists, and Housing Specialists to deliver case management and skills development.

You will work in a youth-centered, culturally competent approach, motivating and mentoring young adults transitioning from foster care toward independence. A strong commitment to community-based services and collaboration is essential.

Qualifications

• BA in social work, psychology, counselling or equivalent; two years of child welfare/transition age youth experience.
• Master's Degree in social work, psychology, counselling or equivalent preferred.
• Strong cultural competency to remove barriers and foster belonging.
• Comfortable working in community settings and travel as needed.
• Must pass a background check and have a CA driver's license and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to a caseload of youth in person, via video calls and phone.
• Support goal setting and attainment with each youth.
• Gather information and monitor youth safety, wellbeing and progress.
• Develop plans to ensure safety and de-escalate crises as needed.
• Offer coaching, mentoring and life-skill development to promote independence.
