Job summary

Boys and Girls Club Whittier / Pico Rivera is seeking a part-time STEM Specialist to lead the Makerspace activities for youth aged 6–18. The role involves planning curricula, delivering hands-on STEM experiences, and ensuring safe, engaging learning environments aligned with program goals.

You will support youth development, organize activity stations, and promote problem solving, teamwork, and curiosity through project-based learning across age groups.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 48 College credits or pass equivalency exam.
• 1+ years of relevant experience working with children and/or youth in an educational, recreational, or youth development setting.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate daily STEM programming in the Makerspace aligned with monthly STEM themes.
• Organize and maintain the STEM room and Makerspace equipment.
• Build positive relationships with youth and encourage curiosity and participation in STEM.
• Support youth in developing confidence, resilience, and creativity through experimentation and iteration.
• Encourage youth to showcase their work and reflect on learning experiences.
• Facilitate a daily Teen STEM Hour focused on deeper exploration of STEM topics.
