Job summary

The YMCA of Greater San Antonio is seeking a site lead to oversee game and practice locations, manage schedules, and referee games as needed. You will ensure equipment is ready, uphold safety policies, and communicate with parents, players, and coaches.

This role requires strong interpersonal skills, a clear understanding of youth sports, and the ability to enforce YMCA rules while serving as a positive role model across multiple sites in the greater San Antonio area.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age.
• Understand basic sports program principles (basketball, baseball, soccer, football, volleyball).
• Demonstrate diplomatic interpersonal skills.
• Maintain harmonious relationships promoting care, honesty, respect and responsibility.
• Ability to relate to children and parents.
• Professional appearance and courteous conduct.
• Follow YMCA policies and decisions in a supportive manner.
• Ability to intervene in conflict resolution.
• Serve as a primary responder.
• A valid driver’s license is required with capacity to drive to various locations.
• Certifications required within the first week: Redwoods Bloodborne Pathogens, Defensive Driving, Hazardous Communications.
• Certifications within the first 60 days: CPR, First Aid, AED, Emergency Oxygen.

Responsibilities

• Will manage game and practice times and referee games when needed.
• Ensure sites have equipment before games and practices; manage equipment after.
• Attend sport-specific training and know game rules.
• Monitor and respond to all horseplay.
• Promote participant safety and engagement per YMCA policies.
• Provide answers or seek others who can help.
• Develop and maintain communication with parents, players, and coaches.
• Enforce YMCA rules and policies.
• Keep current on all game and practice schedule changes.
• Maintain regular communication with Sports Director about site needs and issues.
• Respond promptly to emergencies.
• Ensure cleanliness of facility sites.
• Maintain courteous, friendly attitude and be a positive role model.
• Attend trainings and meetings related to the position.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
