Job summary

Haverhill YMCA, part of YMCA of the North Shore, is hiring a Patched Referee to officiate youth and adult sports, promote fair play, and ensure safe, engaging experiences for participants.

You'll enforce rules, communicate penalties clearly, handle conflicts with professionalism, and build positive relationships with players, families, coaches, and staff in a fast-paced community setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of sports rules, gameplay, and officiating standards.
• Strong communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to remain impartial and make fair judgments.
• Experience with youth or sports programs is preferred.
• Ability to manage challenging situations professionally and confidently.
• Commitment to a safe, welcoming environment for all participants.

Responsibilities

• Officiate youth and adult games per YMCA and league rules.
• Promote fair play and good sportsmanship among participants, coaches, and spectators.
• Ensure safety and well-being of all participants during games and activities.
• Communicate rules, penalties, and game procedures clearly and professionally.
• Resolve conflicts calmly while maintaining control of the game.
• Build positive relationships with participants, families, coaches, and YMCA staff.
• Support YMCA sports programs through positive leadership and engagement.
