Lake Superior YMCA is hiring a Youth Sports Referee (part-time). The role focuses on the health, safety, and welfare of participants in sports programs, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment and adherence to YMCA policies.

Refs support a positive atmosphere, teach sportsmanship, and uphold core values during activities. The position emphasizes preparation, reliable attendance, and engagement with youth and adults, with opportunities for growth, certifications, and training as part of the YMCA

Qualifikationen

• Minimum age 15 years old and enrolled in high school.
• Knowledge of the sport and basic understanding of the rules.
• Ability to demonstrate leadership and enthusiasm on the court or field.
• Friendly, outgoing, with a clear understanding of the YMCA’s Mission.
• Experience working with children and adults, participating in sports, and preferably officiating.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certification within 60 days of hire if not currently certified.
• Must pass a background check.

Aufgaben

• Model, teach, and incorporate the YMCA’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility.
• Interact with participants in a positive manner and develop relationships with youth, adults, and staff.
• Maintain a friendly atmosphere and encourage good sportsmanship while supervising YMCA practices.
• Provide customer service to fulfill participant needs and use teachable moments.
• Ensure safety of participants and complete incident reports as needed.
• Attend in-service trainings and staff meetings.
