Job summary

City of Suffolk is seeking a Recreation Leader to assist in delivering community athletic programs under direct supervision. You will help lead activities and support daily administration of leagues, while assisting in maintaining the facility.

Typical shifts require some weeknights (5:45pm–9:15pm) and Saturdays (8am–4pm). You will interact with staff and participants, attend trainings, and perform related duties as needed to support public programs.

Qualifications

• Must have completed 10th grade and be 16 years of age by start of employment.
• Ability to communicate with supervisors, employees and the public.
• Ability to read a variety of reports, informational documentation, directions, instructions, and methods and procedures.
• Ability to prepare required paperwork with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech.
• Ability to speak with and before others with poise, voice control, and confidence using correct English and well-modulated voice.

Responsibilities

• Lead and assist in implementing recreation athletic programs.
• Assist senior staff with daily administration of athletic programs.
• Supervise athletics programming and leagues.
• Help clean and maintain the facility.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
