Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking a Sports Specialty Instructor at Wade Walker Family YMCA to lead sport-specific training and skills development. You will demonstrate game rules, teach basics, and help beginners while refining advanced athletes’ techniques.

Responsibilities include delivering sport instruction, participating in events, maintaining relationships with schools and families, and assessing participant progress.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older and hold a high school diploma or GED.
• Must have 2+ years of coaching or instructing experience OR 2+ years of competitive experience at the college level or equivalent in the sport.
• Must currently hold or be able to acquire any required certifications for sport (CPR/First Aid, Safe Sport, Heads Up Concussion) within 30 days of hire.
• Knowledge of how to instruct the sport including the rules and technique.
• Ability to motivate, coach, and lead participants.
• Excellent verbal/written communication and customer service skills.
• Criminal background check is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in sports activities.
• Participate in special events and activities related to their sport.
• Maintain effective relationships with schools, parents, participants, and other groups.
• Create an environment that provides various activities and instruction to support program goals.
• Answer inquiries from participants, parents, volunteers, or other stakeholders and provide information in a timely manner.
• Attend staff meetings and approved training as required.
• Conduct assessments of program participants.
