Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is hiring a Sports Specialty Instructor to implement sport-specific training and skill development for youth and adults at the Decatur Dekalb Family YMCA. You will teach the basics, refine techniques, and help beginners and experienced athletes advance their abilities within a safety-conscious program.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older and possess a high school diploma or GED.
• 2+ years of coaching or instructing experience or 2+ years of competitive experience at the college level or equivalent.
• Must hold or be able to acquire required sport certifications (Safe Sport, CDC Heads Up Concussion, CPR/First Aid).
• Knowledge of sport rules and technique; ability to motivate and lead participants.
• Strong interpersonal communication, conflict management, and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction in sports activities.
• Participate in special events and activities related to their sport.
• Maintain effective relationships with schools, parents, participants, and other groups.
• Create an environment that provides various activities and instruction to support program goals.
• Answer inquiries from participants, parents, volunteers, or other stakeholders and provide timely information.
• Attend staff meetings and approved training; conduct assessments of program participants.
