Job summary

State of Missouri's Division of Youth Services seeks a Youth Services Worker to provide treatment services and ensure safety and security for youth in day treatment and residential programs.

You will facilitate group and individual activities, monitor youth, dispense medications as needed, and support education programs. Evening/night shifts may apply; a competitive benefits package is included.

Qualifications

• Sixty or more earned credit hours from an accredited college or university with a minimum of six earned credit hours in Counseling, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work OR 2–4 years of relevant experience.
• Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
• Special Requirement: Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide Awareness Supervision to youth, with responsibility for their personal conduct, care, and therapy.
• Monitor activity, behavior, and movement of youth in residential/day treatment settings and during escorts.
• Maintain security, including intervention and physical restraints during emergencies to prevent escapes.
• Supervise youth during work activities, recreation, and religious activities; inspect health and safety hazards.
• Assist youth with personal issues and refer to the group; observe and inform staff of notable behavioral changes.
• Implement group and individual treatment plans; maintain professional boundaries and positive interactions.
• Prepare reports regarding each client's adjustment and progress; maintain youth records.
• Dispense medications to youth and respond to medical emergencies (CPR).
• Transport and escort youth in daily and emergency situations; work shifts and attend meetings as assigned.
• May assist in the educational program; perform other tasks as assigned.
