Job summary

State of Missouri's Division of Youth Services is hiring a Youth Services Worker to provide treatment services and ensure safety for youth in day treatment and residential programs. You will facilitate programming, supervise youth, and coordinate with staff to maintain a therapeutic environment.

The role requires empathy, teamwork, and clear communication. Evening or night shifts may apply, with pay differentials; benefits include health and retirement; valid driver's license required.

Qualifications

• Sixty or more earned credit hours from an accredited college with six hours in Counseling, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology or Social Work.
• Alternatively, 2–4 years of relevant experience.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license is required.
• Ability to communicate clearly, honestly and openly with youth and staff.

Responsibilities

• Provide Awareness Supervision to youth and monitor conduct, care and therapy.
• Maintain security and assist with physical restraints during emergencies.
• Supervise activities and ensure health and safety in residential and day treatment settings.
• Assist youth with personal issues and refer to group sessions as needed.
• Prepare reports on each youth’s adjustment and progress and maintain records.
• Dispense medications to youth and respond to medical emergencies.
• Transport and escort youth in everyday and emergency situations.
• Attend shifts in the evening, overnight or daytime hours and participate in mandatory meetings.
