Job summary

Fort Bend County is recruiting a Part-time Library Assistant to support Youth Services at the University Branch. You will assist at reference desks, help patrons with computers, and participate in programming for children, under the guidance of full-time staff.

• Requires high school diploma and 48 college credit hours; relevant experience working with children preferred.
• Typing and keyboarding skills; computer skills involving the internet and database searching.
• Good communication skills and ability to interact easily with staff and public.

Responsibilities

• Assist the full-time staff at one of the library’s reference desks.
• Provide answers to reference questions and refer complex queries to staff.
• Assist patrons in using public computers to access catalogs, databases, and online resources.
• Help in programming for children and other library areas as required.
• Complete shelf-reading duties and processing of books/AV materials.
• Attend reference training and stay familiar with library resources.
