Columbus Metropolitan Library in Columbus, OH is seeking a Youth Services Librarian at the Northside Branch to lead programs for children and teens and promote literacy. This full-time role focuses on engaging youth, collaborating with schools, and supporting the library’s Young Minds strategy.

The position requires a MLS/MSLS from an ALA-accredited program and 1–3 years of youth experience, with strong customer service and staff supervision abilities.

Qualifications

• Master’s of Library and Information Science Degree from an ALA-accredited institution is required.
• 1–3 years’ working with youth is required.
• Ability to exercise judgment in handling information and records.
• Ability to work independently with limited direction.
• Strong customer-service mindset and ability to engage youth and families.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-level customer service and reference assistance in person, by phone, email, and chat.
• Develop, implement, and promote teen and children’s programs in support of the Young Minds strategy.
• Provide readers’ advisory using knowledge of the collection and publishing industry.
• Train staff and customers in research databases, digital resources, and reference tools.
• Lead collection management and promote early-literacy materials for youth.
