Job summary

Town of Hudson is seeking a Youth Services Librarian to lead the Youth Services Department in Hudson, MA. The role requires MLS/MLIS and several years of youth-focused library experience, supervising staff and coordinating programs.

The position supports public service operations, outreach, and technology access, with evenings and weekends as needed. Strong communication and collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution with more than three years of progressive library experience.
• Knowledge of youth services, programs, literature, resources, and technology.
• Ability to supervise staff and manage department operations with independent judgment.

Responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of the Youth Services Department including public service operations, collection management, reference and technology assistance, readers’ advisory, programs, events, publicity, community outreach, grants, and statistics.
• Establish departmental goals and priorities; evaluate results achieved.
• Provide budget recommendations for youth services programs, collections, and technology.
• Monitor & report monthly and annual statistics for youth services programs and outreach.
• Lead monthly programs (storytimes, book clubs, crafts) and collaborate on events like Summer Experience and One Book, One Hudson.
• Host Teen Advisory Board (TAB) meetings and oversee staff scheduling and supervision.
• Coordinate library material displays and contribute to library communications and social media.
