Youth Services Librarian and Marketing Coordinator (Full-Time)

Join to apply for the Youth Services Librarian and Marketing Coordinator (Full-Time) role at Upper Merion Township.

Upper Merion Township, located in King of Prussia, PA, is seeking an enthusiastic, organized Youth Services Librarian and Marketing Coordinator who will report directly to the Head of Youth Services and Library Director. This full-time position involves approximately 75% of the time working directly in the youth services department, providing high-quality services to children, teens, families, and other patrons. The remaining 25% will focus on library marketing and social media communication, ensuring a cohesive library brand across print and digital platforms.

Responsibilities

Youth Services Librarian duties include:

1. Planning, developing, and implementing programs for children and teens, with an emphasis on grades 7-12.
2. Collaborating with community organizations and schools for outreach programs and services.
3. Assisting in summer reading and seasonal reading challenges to promote literacy and engagement.
4. Selecting and maintaining a diverse, up-to-date collection for children.
5. Performing reference and reader's advisory services in person, by phone, and email.
6. Developing and managing age-appropriate displays and book lists.
7. Attending district meetings for teen and children’s services.
8. Performing other duties as assigned.

Marketing Coordinator duties include:

1. Creating marketing materials such as flyers, newsletters, and online content.
2. Promoting the library’s collections, services, resources, and programs across print, digital, and social media platforms.
3. Maintaining consistent branding using a style guide.

Physical Characteristics

Good visual acuity (near and mid-vision), ability to walk, sit, reach, bend, lift (up to 25 lbs.), and climb on a stool.

Minimum Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited program.
• Familiarity with Canva design software.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to perform detailed work accurately and efficiently.
• Effective communication and organizational skills.
• Strong computer skills and social media knowledge.
• Ability to work well with children and adults in a professional manner.
• Current PA Child Abuse, PA Criminal, and FBI clearances or ability to obtain them.
• Completion of pre-employment drug screening.

Schedule

35 hours/week, including some evenings and weekends. Typical schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9 am – 5 pm; Tuesday 12 pm – 8 pm; plus one Saturday per month.
