Job summary

Bays, Inc. is seeking a Youth Screening Specialist to screen and assess youth brought in by law enforcement, determine detention status, and recommend services or court handling.

The role involves mental health and substance abuse risk assessments and provides crisis intervention as needed. The position requires two years of youth experience, a Florida driver’s license with auto insurance, and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years of experience working with youth required.
• Must possess a valid Florida Driver’s license and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Review law enforcement paperwork and criminal history records.
• Serve as a resource to families, outside agencies and staff; answer telephones.
• Maintain accurate youth files, screening packets and JJIS documentation.
• Communicate with youth's parents/guardians and DJJ/DCF staff and law enforcement for efficient processing.
• Attend court hearings to present detention risk findings.
• Provide crisis intervention to de-escalate conflicts.
• Supervise youth at risk for self-harm as needed.
• Install EM equipment based on assessment or court order.
• Assess suicide risk and conduct mental health/substance abuse screenings.
• Use Motivational Interviewing and Trauma-Informed Care during interviews and assessments.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
