Job summary

Bay State Community Services, Inc. is seeking a Youth Advocate to work with adolescents aged 12-18, providing supportive services and modeling respectful behavior. The role includes safety supervision, de-escalation, and transport to school and activities, in a culturally competent manner.

Required elements include a high school diploma or GED, CPR and first aid certification, and CPI de-escalation training. Prior residential or DMH/DCF experience is preferred; bilingual candidates are welcome.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year experience with adolescents preferred.
• Residential experience preferred.
• Experience with systems (e.g. DMH, DCF) preferred.
• Additional languages desirable.
• Able to learn, carry out and be certified in CPI de-escalation techniques.
• Able to learn, carry out and be certified in CPR and first aid.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and maintain the safety of adolescents between 12-18.
• Deliver services in a culturally competent manner.
• Support youth with developing daily living and coping skills.
• Implement interventions aligned with treatment and service plans.
• Participate in de-escalation and physical interventions when required.
• Drive youth to school, appointments, and recreational activities.
• Implement and adhere to the behavioral support system.
