Job summary

Universal Health Services (UHS) is seeking a Mental Health Associate for the 2nd shift (1pm-9pm) in Birmingham, AL. The role involves direct care for residents with psychiatric disorders and ensuring safety using a therapeutic approach, with duties including assistance with daily activities and group facilitation.

The position requires 19+ years old, successful drug screen, and background check; prior residential behavioral health experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or related mental health field preferred, but not required.
• Detailed and organized with strong documentation skills.
• Able to safely monitor residents and perform physical management techniques and crisis intervention.
• Experience in a residential mental/behavioral health setting strongly preferred.
• Must be 19 years or older, and have a successful drug screen and background check (includes criminal history, Child Abuse and Neglect Registry, and ABI/FBI fingerprint check).

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care to residents with psychiatric disorders and ensure their safety on the unit.
• Utilize a therapeutic approach to daily activities, group facilitation, and other duties as assigned.
• Participate in treatment planning and safety procedures as part of the care team.
