Job summary

Universal Health Services in Birmingham, Alabama, seeks a Mental Health Associate for 2nd shift (3:00 PM–11:30 PM) with rotating weekend hours. You will provide direct care to male residents aged 9–18 with psychiatric disorders, using a therapeutic approach and assisting with daily activities and group facilitation.

Qualifications include a preferred Bachelors or Associates in a mental health field, strong documentation skills, and experience in residential settings; must be 19+ with background

Qualifications

• Bachelors or Associates degree in psychology, social work, education, criminal justice, or related mental health field preferred, but not required.
• Detailed and organized with strong documentation skills; able to monitor residents and perform crisis intervention.
• Experience in a residential mental/behavioral health setting preferred.
• Must be 19 years or older with a successful drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• He/she will provides direct care to residents with psychiatric disorders, to ensure their safety and well-being.
• MHA's have the primary responsibility for ensuring the resident's safety on the unit utilizing a therapeutic approach to all tasks including assistance with daily activities, facilitation of groups and other duties as assigned by Group Leader, Assistant Group Leader, or Shift Supervisor.
