Job summary

Elk Hill Farm, Inc. is seeking a Residential Counselor to join our team in Bremo Bluff, VA. This full-time, 12-month service position focuses on creating a supportive group home environment for youth, with emphasis on documentation, behavior support, and development of clients’ goals.

The role requires a High-School Diploma (preferred), current CPR/First Aid, and a valid medication aide training certificate. A driver’s license is preferred.

Qualifications

• Education: High-School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
• Must have up-to-date certification in the facility’s Behavior Management Program and willingness to apply skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification must be current.
• Must have a valid medication aide training certificate and driving license preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high standard of childcare during coverage, including documentation of each shift and overseeing youth development.
• Provide a positive example and be a positive role model at all times.
• Build positive relationships with youth and with staff.
• Model professional standards in interactions with youth, families, and colleagues.
• Organize and facilitate group activities and community service projects.
• Assist in constructing and implementing individual service plans for students.
• Participate in supervision and staff development training.
• Perform other duties as requested by the Program Director.
