Job summary

Elk Hill in Goochland, VA is seeking a Residential Counselor to join our team dedicated to youth and families. The role centers on maintaining a safe, supportive group home environment, documenting shifts, and helping youths meet goals outlined in their service plans.

You will build positive relationships with residents, model professional behavior, participate in group activities, and assist with medication dispersal and visits while pursuing ongoing staff development and cross-training

Qualifications

• Six months of experience with children with mental health diagnoses.
• Experience in residential/group home settings preferred.
• Willingness to accept feedback.
• Knowledge of cultural diversity and its impact.
• Ability to document shifts and service plans.
• Maintain professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a high standard of childcare during coverage and document each shift.
• Provide a positive example and be a positive role model.
• Build positive relationships with youth.
• Model professional standards with residents, families, and staff.
• Work towards annual personal and professional development goals.
• Assist in training new personnel.
• Organize and facilitate group activities.
• Facilitate medication dispersal and medical visits.
• Assist in constructing individual service plans.
• Participate in supervision and staff development.
• Coordinate group activities and community service projects.
• May work at other group homes as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
