Job summary

Children in Fort Lauderdale is seeking a Residential Assistant to support daily care and supervision of youth in a structured home. Responsibilities include daily documentation, incident reporting, preparing meals, transporting residents, aiding with ADLs and medication management, and keeping the home clean and safe.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or associate degree in social work or related field.
• Minimum 2 years' experience working with at-risk children.
• Ability to empathize and communicate effectively.
• Able to problem solve and make quick decisions.
• Punctual with reliable attendance.
• Respect for cultural diversity.
• Comfort with independent thinking and minimal supervision.
• Willingness to follow schedules and routines.

Responsibilities

• Maintain daily documentation and logs.
• Submit incident reports within 12 hours of incidents.
• Prepare meals and serve family style.
• Manage bi-weekly inventory and grocery planning.
• Transport residents to appointments and activities.
• Ensure residents receive items they need.
• Keep the facility safe, clean, and orderly.
• Report safety issues to supervisor.
• Provide crisis intervention using trauma-informed approaches.
• Apply and reinforce behavior management techniques.
• Assist with ADLs and life skills training.
• Assist with medication management.
• Complete daily progress notes for each resident.
• Manage residents' schedules and support compliance with activities.
• Attend monthly staff meetings.
• Collaborate with peers to ensure consistent care.
