Job summary

exalt is seeking a Youth Stabilization Specialist in New York City, NY. This full-time role provides intensive, individualized support to youth transitioning from detention and facing barriers to stability, education, and employment within exalt's programming.

You will coordinate case management, court and school engagement, internship support, family mediation, crisis response, and cross-agency collaboration. Travel within NYC and community-based work are required; schedule is 11am–7pm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, education, criminal justice, or related field.
• Minimum of three years working directly with justice-involved youth or young adults.
• Experience in intensive case management, youth reentry, crisis intervention, educational advocacy, or community-based services.
• Familiarity with New York City's youth justice, education, housing, and social service systems.
• Experience collaborating with courts, schools, families, and community organizations.
• Strong relationship-building, communication, crisis response, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently in community settings while maintaining coordination with internal teams.
• Commitment to trauma-informed, culturally responsive, strength-based, and youth-centered practice.

Responsibilities

• Provide intensive case management with regular follow-up and develop individualized stabilization plans.
• Assist youth in obtaining essential identification documents and access to housing, school enrollment, and services.
• Attend court appearances and coordinate with Court Advocate team and other stakeholders.
• Conduct school visits and support reentry planning and educational resource access.
• Support internship placement, engagement, and transition to alumni services or employment.
• Coordinate family engagement, mediation, and crisis response per organizational protocols.
