Job summary

The City of Olathe is seeking a Part-Time Recreation Leader I to support KidsCrew during Thanksgiving, Winter and Spring Break, and Camp Olathe in the summer. You will help execute a variety of enrichment activities for elementary-aged children in a safe, engaging environment under supervision.

Required include 16+ years, HS diploma, and First Aid/CPR certification with training provided; background check is required.

Qualifications

• One year of experience working in the recreation industry and/or working with children is preferred.
• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
• First Aid and CPR certification required- training provided.
• Other applicable certifications for specific program focus may be required.
• A valid driver's license with favorable driving record is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to the success of recreation programs
• Prepares, sets up, and cleans up program activities
• Assists with the leading of programs
• Monitors program participants as well as supplies and equipment
• Completes work under supervision by following directions
• Assists team in providing excellent customer service
• Is available to participants for questions and feedback
• Answers simple questions, promptly referring more complex questions to other staff
• Assists fellow staff in creating and maintaining a positive, safe and welcoming environment for participants and other staff
• Participates with group and offers assistance when needed
• Maintains awareness of changing site conditions
