Job summary

Johnson County Park and Recreation District (JCPRD) is seeking helpers to supervise children at multiple elementary locations in the Olathe District. Shifts run 7:00–8:30 a.m. and/or 3:00–6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with two location options in Olathe.

Salary is listed as $12.00 per hour. Applicants must be at least 16, have some experience with children, and pass a KBI background check. Training and advancement opportunities are available within a supportive team environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16 years and older.
• Some experience with children.
• Pass KBI background check.
• Preferred: some experience with children aged 5-12.

Responsibilities

• Ensures the safety of the children in the program at all times.
• Direct interaction with the children in games, activities, and free play.
• Ensures that both JCPRD and KDHE guidelines are followed.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized program.
• Communicate effectively with parents, children, supervisors, and co-workers.
• Exhibit initiative by demonstrating leadership without prompting.
• Display professionalism at all times.
• Provide excellent customer service.
• Attend all required trainings and meetings.
• Additional duties as assigned by the Program Director or Assistant Program Director.

Job Description

Location options are at various elementary schools in the Olathe School District.

Monday - Friday, 7:00 - 8:30 a.m. and/or 3:00-6:00 p.m.

Duties and responsibilities, as required by business necessity may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of management, formally or informally, either verbally or in writing. Scheduling and shift assignments and work location may be changed at any time, as required by business necessity.

Job Requirements

• Minimum age of 16 years and older.
• Some experience with children.
• Pass KBI background check.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• Some experience working with children 5-12 years.

JCPRD requires reference/background screening for all positions. Specified criteria may vary by Department.
