Job summary

VOA Alaska is seeking a Peer Support Specialist to empower youth ages 13-24 using lived recovery experience. You will mentor, educate, and model healthy relationships to promote sobriety and community integration.

The role involves crisis response work with Rapid Response, connecting clients to housing, education, and employment, and documenting services in compliance with regulations. Bilingual Spanish is preferred.

Qualifications

• Lived experience with recovery and active participation in self-care.
• High school diploma or equivalent; state credentials indicate readiness.
• Ability to manage boundaries, confidentiality, and trauma-informed care.

Responsibilities

• Engage youth 13-24 in recovery supports and connect to resources.
• Work with Rapid Response to provide immediate crisis services.
• Assist with housing, education, employment connections and outreach.
• Maintain 20+ hours of direct client services weekly with documentation.
• Drive agency vehicle for client support as needed.
• Participate in TIP and SBIRT trainings and maintain professional boundaries.
