Job summary

Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains is seeking a Youth Development Professional in Milbank, SD. This part-time, non-exempt position focuses on supporting, leading, and encouraging youth through activities that promote welfare and positive development.

You will build relationships, reinforce positive behavior, organize daily activities, and ensure safety and program policy compliance while working closely with staff and leadership.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Commitment to working four days a week.
• Commitment to a class schedule for the upcoming semester
• Commitment to working at the Club during the summer.
• Must be able to work within school-year operating hours of the Club.
• Must be able to work within the summer operating hours of the Club.
• Demonstrate behavior management principles and youth development values.

Responsibilities

• Assist in all areas by enforcing rules, modeling positive behavior, and serving as a friend and mentor for young people.
• Oversee daily operations of recreation areas, including safety equipment, cleaning facilities, signage, and computer use.
• Organize and facilitate recreational activities, including daily games, fitness events, arts and crafts, and daily musical instruction.
• Encourage members to participate in activities and form healthy relationships and ensure fair treatment.
• Assess group dynamics and collaborate with leadership to create activities for relationship building and improved self-confidence.
• Complete necessary paperwork, incident reports, progress evaluations, and activity assessments.
• Foster collaboration and leadership among participants by adding activities that promote teamwork and responsibility.
• Ensure all program activities follow the Club’s policies and procedures.
• Responsible for the safety and security of the youth in the facility.
• Attend 100% of monthly all-staff meetings, biweekly one-on-one meetings, and team meetings.
• Assist your supervisor in trimester performance plan goals and end-of-trimester objectives.
• Provide daily feedback to the supervisor on daily outcomes and program improvements.
• Implement the 5 Key Elements for Positive Youth Development.
• Exhibit the Club Values of excellence, impact-driven, teamwork, and good character.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
