Job summary

Columbus Metropolitan Library seeks a Youth Engagement Specialist to foster positive youth experiences and caregiver engagement at the Main Library. You’ll help deliver literacy-focused programs and informal engagements aligned with the Young Minds Strategy, and may conduct outreach to schools and organizations serving youth.

The role emphasizes program delivery, collaboration with schools, and collection management support for juvenile materials while promoting a welcoming, safe library

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required and experience with youth or community engagement preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact with diverse audiences.
• Interest and ability to develop rapport with youth and caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Proactively provides high level customer service by engaging youth and families in library resources, activities and programs.
• Creates a safe, welcoming environment balancing fun with relationship building to support youth development.
• Plans and presents programs for children of all ages at the Main Library and off-site.
• Connects with schools and community organizations to promote Young Minds programs and services.
