Job summary

Hood County Library in Granbury, TX seeks an MLS librarian to oversee juvenile services, manage programming for children and youth, and curate the juvenile/easy/tween/teen collections. The role requires planning story hours, outreach, and budget planning in collaboration with the Library Director and office staff.

The ideal candidate has MLS, at least 1 year public library experience, and ability to work evenings/weekends.

Qualifications

• Master of Library Science or Master of Library and Information Science or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year of public library experience.
• Some experience working with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Directs programming for children through planning and implementing story hours and other events.
• Plans and implements marketing and outreach of these programs to families.
• Analyzes Juvenile, Easy, Tween and Teen collections and develops a Collection Development plan.
• Updates and maintains Juvenile, Easy, Tween and Teen collections by selecting, weeding, and ordering titles.
• Purchases additions to collections by working with vendors and following county purchasing procedures.
• Keeps daily statistics of personal activities to track program performance.
