Job summary

The North Adams Public Library seeks a Youth Services Librarian to build on the work of the previous team member. The role emphasizes connecting with youth and families, creative problem solving, and delivering engaging programs.

The librarian will supervise part-time staff, develop programming, and promote reading habits. Strong communication and collaboration with schools and partners are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science, Education, or related field.
• Three+ years of library experience working with children and youth.
• Master’s Degree in Library Science, Education, or related field (preferred).
• Two+ years of library experience working with children and youth (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operation of the youth services department, including supervision and scheduling of staff and volunteers.
• Develop and implement youth programming and outreach, in person and online.
• Curate the youth collection and oversee cataloging and processing of new materials.
• Build partnerships with schools and community organizations to support programming.
• Create content for the library website and social media focusing on teens and families.
• Provide reference and readers’ advisory services to youth and caregivers.
