Job summary

Jeudevine Memorial Library in Hardwick seeks a Youth Services Librarian to lead programs for birth through young adulthood and their families, including story times, the summer reading program, and outreach initiatives. This is a part-time professional position serving the town of Hardwick.

The role includes outreach to schools and caregivers, youth collection curation, promotional materials creation, and collaboration with staff.

Qualifications

BA or BS in a related field; Vermont Certificate of Public Librarianship or willingness to acquire one.
MLS from an ALA-accredited program preferred.
Prior work experience with children, teens, and/or families is required.

Responsibilities

Create, plan, and present programs for children, caregivers, and teens.
Plan and provide outreach for area schools, preschools, daycares, caregivers and community organizations.
Assist in the selection and maintenance of the birth through Young Adult collections.
Create promotional materials for youth programming (posters, social media, press releases, website).
Represent library services for young people at community events and meetings.
Assist with daily circulation desk operations.
Prepare narrative reports for monthly board meetings.
Assist with grant writing to support youth materials and programs.
