Job summary

Potsdam Public Library is seeking a dedicated Youth Librarian to lead programs for children and teens, oversee YA collections, and engage families through outreach. The role emphasizes collaboration with staff and volunteers to deliver dynamic services in a community-focused setting.

The position requires a NYS provisional library certificate or higher, strong communication, and weekend onsite availability. Competitive civil service benefits and a 35-hour work week accompany the full-time role.

Qualifications

• Eligible for NYS public librarian provisional certificate at time of application.
• Graduate degree from library school is required.
• Knowledge of children’s and teen literature and literacy development.
• Ability to work onsite during scheduled hours, including weekends.

Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and deliver youth programs for children and teens.
• Lead collection development for children and young adults.
• Provide reader’s advisory to children, teens, caregivers, and educators.
• Maintain youth spaces and coordinate program logistics and safety.
