Job summary

The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a part-time Recreation Assistant to support a variety of group activities, including summer programs and after-school sites. You will help supervise facilities, track fees, and assist with safety and daily reports.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and some recreation experience; training in first aid is a plus. This role emphasizes teamwork, reliability, and a positive environment for participants.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or higher and three months of recreation experience.
• Under supervision, facilitate and monitor a wide variety of recreational activities.
• Lead social and recreational activities for participants at assigned site (summer camps, after school, playground programs).
• Ensure participant safety and well-being at all times.
• Responsible for use and condition of recreation supplies and equipment inventory.
• Apply disciplinary policies to maintain a safe, positive environment.
• Render simple first aid in emergency situations.
• Supervise volunteers as assigned.
• Assist in supporting recreational activities in a group setting.
• Supervise assigned classroom or playground.
• Collect fees from participants; complete required reports timely.
• Oversee cleanliness and orderliness of assigned facility.

Responsibilities
