Job summary

Grand Street Settlement invites applications for the PART-TIME Compass Elementary Assistant Director role in Brooklyn, NY. You will support Youth Services by promoting growth, leadership, and a positive self-image among campers and youth.

The position involves light supervision, data entry, group facilitation, and collaboration with the Program Director to maintain a safe, engaging environment across our sites.

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Experience teaching and designing curricula.
• Ideal candidate has experience with DYCD Online.
• Experience working with diverse youth ages 5-14.
• Three or more years’ experience & expertise working with youth (volunteer experience acceptable).
• Three or more years’ experience coaching, instructing, or facilitating curriculum-based lessons (youth preferred).
• Personable, energetic, and enthusiastic.
• Must complete NYSDOH Fingerprinting Screening; NYS Clearance; 3 references; TB test.

Responsibilities

• Supervise participants and intervene with youth in groups.
• Maintain adequate staff for supervision during activities and trips.
• Design and ensure implementation of curricula.
• Collaborate with co-workers and follow schedules/procedures.
• Create a culture of positive group cohesiveness.
• Enter participant data on DYCD Online and manage attendance.
• Assist with reports and database maintenance; ensure paperwork is submitted on time.
• Prepare time sheets and assist payroll.
