Job summary

Hammond Family YMCA in Hammond, Indiana is hiring a part-time School Age Coordinator to oversee Before & After School and Camp programs focused on youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. This role emphasizes program operation, staff supervision, safety, and community collaboration.

You will maintain required records, train staff, recruit volunteers, and ensure high-quality service for YMCA members and participants.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years related experience working with children of diverse ages and cultures.
• Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid and New Employee Orientation.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and with minimal supervision. Organized and detail oriented.
• Adept computer skills in Office 365.
• Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Lead Before & After School and camp activities within established guidelines.
• Support and supervise program staff and volunteers; ensure consistent delivery of programming.
• Provide a nurturing atmosphere and safety for all participants.
• Maintain appropriate teacher to student ratios during programming.
• Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with parents and respond to inquiries.
• Adheres to the organization's policies and procedures.
• Provide shift supervision while performing direct service 80% of the time.
• Assist in recruiting, hiring and developing team members.
• Conduct team feedback, corrective actions, and evaluations.
