Job summary

University Settlement is seeking a Part-Year Group Leader to support classroom activities for youth at 100 Clermont Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11205. The role includes supervising activities, implementing theme-based projects, and maintaining positive relationships with host schools, parents, and staff.

The position requires an associate degree or HS diploma with relevant experience; bilingual abilities are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in child development or Elementary Ed. or HS diploma with two years' experience with children.
• Experience coordinating with parent groups (PTAs, volunteers, AmeriCorps).
• Familiarity with youth in various settings.
• Ability to work under pressure.
• Bilingual English and Spanish/Cantonese/Mandarin preferred.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Support Site Supervisor and maintain program relationships.

Responsibilities

• Support group leaders and aides with classroom activities and behavior; liaison between leaders and management.
• Plan and implement theme-based activities for youth; maintain relationships with school, parents, staff and children.
• Adhere to policies, guidelines, and confidentiality requirements; manage attendance and records.
• Supervise arrival, snack, and dismissal; manage inventory and order supplies.
• Design and implement activities; participate in program-wide activities; supervise homework.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; track attendance and behavior; develop monthly themes.
• Organize special events and coordinate with on-site specialists.
