Job summary

University Settlement Society Of New York seeks a group leader/support staff for its Brooklyn program. You'll assist with classrooms, help implement activities, and liaise between leaders and management to ensure smooth operations.

Responsibilities include project planning, behavior support, and maintaining positive relations with schools, parents, and children while adhering to policies and health guidelines.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in child development, Elementary Ed. or related field or HS Diploma with two years direct experience.
• Experience working with parent groups (volunteer groups, PTAs, AmeriCorps).
• Familiarity with youth in various settings.
• Bilingual preferred (English and another language).
• Strong organizational and communication abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure and maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Support group leaders and program aides with classroom activities and behavior issues.
• Plan and implement theme-based projects and activities.
• Maintain relationships with host school, parents, staff and children.
• Adhere to policies and health guidelines; ensure program files remain confidential.
• Supervise arrival, snack and dismissal, and manage supplies inventory.
