Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is seeking a Program Assistant (youth programs) to foster positive relationships with children and families while delivering structured activities that promote achievement and belonging. You will supervise groups, model healthy behaviors, and collaborate with staff, parents, and community partners to ensure a high-quality program experience.

You will support inclusion and safety policies, participate in training, and assist with paperwork and records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• School-issued work permit required for employees under 18.

Responsibilities

• Nurture children through purposeful programming promoting achievement and belonging.
• Supervise groups to maintain safety and appropriate ratios.
• Use positive behavior management and constructive discipline.
• Build relationships with parents/caregivers and engage them as volunteers.
• Implement classes and activities aligned with topic focus and skill mastery.
• Maintain program records, safety, and cleanliness standards.
