Job summary

Hispanic Health Council in Hartford, CT, is seeking a Program Coordinator for Youth Services to oversee the day-to-day operations of the after-school program at the Youth Development Center. You will deliver high-quality youth programming supporting academic achievement, social-emotional growth, and well-being.

The role involves direct service to students, parent and school communication, and collaboration with staff and community partners to meet grant and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or related field (or associate degree with related experience).
• Experience providing direct services to children and youth in educational, recreational, or community settings.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, families, school personnel, and community partners.
• Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data entry systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and oversee daily after-school program operations.
• Ensure activities follow schedules, policies, and grant requirements.
• Monitor attendance, participation, and engagement.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Support recruitment, enrollment, and retention of program participants.
• Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians regarding student participation, attendance, and program activities.
• Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, counselors, and support staff to address student needs and support academic success.
• Assist with family engagement events and activities.
• Collaborate with program staff to develop and implement curriculum, enrichment activities, lesson plans, and educational materials.
• Assist in planning special events, workshops, field trips, and community service projects.
• Ensure activities are age‑appropriate, engaging, and aligned with program objectives.
• Maintain accurate attendance records and participant documentation.
• Attend required staff meetings, trainings, professional development sessions, and in‑service workshops.
