Job summary

The Bergen County Cooperative Library System seeks a Young Adult and Reference Librarian to provide high-quality reference services, digital literacy, and reader’s advisory to a diverse patron base. The role includes instruction, collection development for adult/YA, and running programs and outreach.

Full-time position (35 hours/week) with one evening per week and some weekends. Requires MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program and NYS librarian certification, plus experience with Koha and

Qualifications

• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program and NYS Public Librarian Certification are required.
• Experience providing reference, instruction, and reader’s advisory to diverse patrons is expected.
• Knowledge of Koha and databases for research and collection development is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide reference services in person, by phone, and online.
• Instruct patrons on library resources and technology.
• Develop adult/YA collections and weed as needed.
• Plan and run YA programs, book clubs, and outreach.
• Promote services through publicity materials and events.
