Job summary

YWCA Malden is seeking an Assistant Group Leader for its school-age programs, with afternoon shifts on school days and full-day flexibility during vacations. The role emphasizes safety, nurturing interaction, and engaging activities for K–5 children.

You will supervise groups, participate in planned activities, and collaborate with staff to meet goals while adhering to policies and licensing requirements. $17.50/hour with PTO.

Qualifications

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Experience working with school-age children preferred; educational background in human services, social work, education, or a related field is a plus.
• Ability to follow direction, accept supervision, and work effectively as part of a team.
• CPR/First Aid certification required, or willingness to become certified within the first 30 days of employment.
• Ability to meet the required schedule and work extended hours during school vacations, summer, and school closures.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage and interact with children to support their positive social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
• Supervise children in both small and large groups while maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
• Assist with planning and implementing age-appropriate activities that reflect children's interests and developmental needs.
• Work collaboratively with program staff to establish and maintain program goals, routines, and expectations.
• Follow all YWCA policies and applicable EEC licensing requirements and regulations.
• Safely supervise children during school bus transportation.
• Maintain positive and professional communication with children, parents/guardians, teachers, and coworkers.
• Support a program environment that respects and celebrates diverse backgrounds, cultures, and abilities.
