Job summary

BGCCIL seeks an Activity Specialist to serve as a positive role model and activity leader for youth ages 6 to 18. Under supervision, you will support outcomes in Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyle and Good Character & Citizenship.

You will supervise and plan activities, maintain records, and serve as a floater when needed, while building relationships and promoting safety. The role emphasizes energy, mentorship, and professionalism in the community.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of youth development; ability to motivate and provide guidance to youth through establishing positive relationships with youth Members.
• Ability to relate to the general public, parents and BGCCIL Members in a friendly, positive, and professional manner.
• Ability to organize and supervise Members to maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
• Valid Illinois Driver's License.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated enthusiasm, energy and commitment in personal contact with Members, parents, supervisors and the general public.

Responsibilities

• Supervisory role: Establish and maintain communication links between members, Activity Specialists and Central Unit Director.
• Plan and oversee the administration of designated programs and activities that support youth development outcomes.
• Exercise authority in relating to members.
• Oversee proper record keeping by Activity Specialists (schedules, activity sheets, etc.).
• Serve as a “floater” in the event of Activity Specialist absence and assist the Central Unit Director with other duties.
