Job summary

BGCSF — George Washington Carver Elementary School-based Club in San Francisco is seeking a Program Leader to guide after-school activities and curriculum for youth ages 6–18. You will foster positive relationships, design engaging lessons, and mentor participants in a fast-paced, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of youth development experience working with youth ages 6–18 in a youth development setting.
• Demonstrated ability to build strong, positive relationships with youth and design engaging curriculum
• Strong positive behavior management and disciplinary skills while maintaining high expectations
• Excellent communication, organizational, and self-starter abilities
• Ability to create, implement, and maintain systems and procedures in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Create, organize, and lead engaging after-school programs and activities for groups of approximately 10 youth participants.
• Develop age-appropriate lesson plans and curriculum that promote personal growth, educational achievement, and character development.
• Provide a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for all youth participants.
• Serve as a positive role model and mentor, fostering self-esteem, goal-setting, and personal development.
• Establish Clubhouse standards and expectations grounded in mutual respect between staff and the community served.
• Apply positive behavior management and disciplinary skills to maintain high expectations in a high-paced environment.
• Collaborate with junior-level colleagues to share best practices, ensure program targets are met, and support team cohesion.
• Maintain operational systems, routines, and record-keeping in a fast-paced environment with continual distractions.
