Job summary

Rappahannock Area Family YMCA is seeking a part-time Youth Program Supervisor to supervise children, engage with families, and uphold safety and program standards. You will interact with parents to foster belonging and positive relationships while promoting healthy activities.

This role supports a welcoming culture and requires adherence to YMCA policies, staff trainings, and emergency procedures. Prior experience with children is preferred and certification in CPR/First Aid/AED is required

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children preferred.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate.
• Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency.
• Completes Praesidium within 7 days of hire date.
• Understands the YMCA is a public accommodation committed to the inclusion and compliance with the ADA.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a group of children.
• Interacts with children and their parents/guardians to build relationships, enforcing rules, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
• Supports YMCA healthy eating and physical activities standards through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
• Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, children and other staff.
• Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions.
• Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
• Participates in YMCA Support Campaign functions
• Performs other duties as assigned.
